Cultural Baggage Host, Dean Becker (R) with Ethan Nadlemann, Pres. Drug Policy Alliance www.drugpolicy.org We provide our listeners with updated, modern data that can help them better understand the draconian and primitive methods of this ancient and superstitious drug war. Steve Nolin, producer and reporter for Cultural Baggage and I will bring you interviews, Q&A sessions, International and National news, updates and activist alerts. Our show airs for one hour, every two weeks on Friday night at Midnight. Join us in the coming weeks when our guests will include others from the list of guests from the NY TIMES DRUG TRUTH series including Governors, Judges and others whose story is currently making waves on the troubled waters of drug prohibition.
The
drug war, is based on ancient superstition, greed and lies.
During the last century, we have slighted our children's education, our
roads and infrastructure so that we could arrest, house, guard and feed
millions of our own citizens… for non-violent drug use. The
violence of drug prohibition comes predominantly from cartels, gangs,
dealers and cops. During
this same hundred years, we paid Trillions of dollars to every stripe of
criminal, from grower to seller, from corrupt cops to street corner
vendors, from politicians to customs officials. The
drug lords of this world are not just in South America, some have
exclusive addresses in Washington D.C. This drug war is a giant,
oinking, 50 billion dollars per year, pork barrel that rolls on,
carrying the masses forward with outrageous lies and moral
posturing. Milton Friedman, the Nobel prize winner summed it up:
"Take a well intended public policy, see where it's adherents want
to take society, then look 180 degrees in the opposite direction for
your eventual results." …Asa
Hutchinson, the Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency is left now
with very little to fall back on. He can only say that
marijuana is harmful and that if we legalize it for adults, more
children will somehow have access. In
the 4,000 year, known history of it's use, marijuana has never been
directly responsible for the death of even one person and yet Asa is
never challenged when he calls it “harmful”. |
